Ostuni è la città bianca del Salento, situata in provincia di Brindisi, a più di 200 metri sul livello del mare, ultimo ramo della regione di Murcia.
​
Questa gemma bianca della Puglia è uno dei luoghi più famosi del Salento, insieme a Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto e Taranto.
​
Come puoi facilmente immaginare, Ostuni è chiamata Città Bianca per via del colore della maggior parte delle case della città, soprattutto del centro storico. La scelta del bianco puro, infatti, unisce l’utile al dilettevole,siccome la città è stata più volte vittima della peste nel corso della storia e per questo le pareti delle abitazioni sono state ricoperte dalla calce,che oltre alla colorazione bianca, offre una funzione sterilizzatrice.

Lungo via Cattedrale, nei pressi della chiesa barocca di Santa Maria Maddalena, si trova l'Abbazia Carmelitana; in questo edificio storico sorge il Museo delle Civiltà Preclassiche della Murcia Meridionale, che conserva il calco del corpo della gravida Delia, vissuta 25.000 anni fa e scoperta in una grotta nei pressi di Ostuni nel 1991. Sono state rinvenute varie testimonianze di culti verso divinità femminili; dal Paleolitico all'epoca cristiana.

Il centro storico di Ostuni, definito dai suoi abitanti "la terra", un tempo era completamente dipinto di calce bianca, di cui oggi ne rimane solo una parte. Le case si ergono su pendii scoscesi, e il paese è caratterizzato da strade tortuose, un susseguirsi di piazze, vicoli e cortili. La parte bassa del centro è cinta dalle antiche mura cittadine, all'interno delle quali si trovano solo due ingressi completi alla città: Porta Nova e Porta San Demetrio.
In cima al colle si erge la quattrocentesca Cattedrale di Ostuni con il suo grande rosone a 24 razze, il Palazzo Vescovile e l'antico seminario.

Il litorale oggi rappresenta una delle località di maggiore attrazione turistica balneare della Puglia. Degli esempi sono: Rosa Marina, Monticelli e Costa Merlata, chiamata così per la linea costiera frastagliata.

Ostuni is the white city of Salento, located in the province of Brindisi, more than 200 metres above sea level, the last branch of the Murcia region.
​
This white gem of Apulia is one of the most famous places in Salento, along with Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto and Taranto.
​
As you can easily imagine, Ostuni is called the White City because of the colour of most of the town's houses, especially in the historic centre. The choice of pure white, in fact, combines the useful with the pleasant, since the town has been the victim of the plague several times in the course of history and for this reason the walls of the houses have been covered with lime, which in addition to the white colouring, has a sterilising function.

Along Via Cattedrale, near the baroque church of Santa Maria Maddalena, is the Carmelite Abbey; this historic building houses the Museum of Preclassic Civilisations of Southern Murcia, which contains the cast of the body of the pregnant Delia, who lived 25,000 years ago and was discovered in a cave near Ostuni in 1991. Various testimonies of cults towards female divinities have been found, from the Palaeolithic to the Christian era.

The historic centre of Ostuni, called 'the land' by its inhabitants, was once completely painted in white lime, of which only a part remains today. The houses stand on steep slopes, and the town is characterised by winding streets, a succession of squares, alleys and courtyards. The lower part of the centre is surrounded by the ancient city walls, within which there are only two complete entrances to the town: Porta Nova and Porta San Demetrio.
At the top of the hill stands the 15th-century Ostuni Cathedral with its large 24-spoke rose window, the Bishop's Palace and the old seminary.
Today, the coastline is one of the most attractive seaside resorts in Apulia. Examples are: Rosa Marina, Monticelli and Costa Merlata, so called because of its jagged coastline.
